A talented composer and bouzouki master is often referred as "The Teacher", since he had a very important role in shaping the different forms of folk song. In his brillant 40 years career he had composed, wrote the lyrics and arranged a plethora of beautiful songs, that remain fresh and "immortal" till today. This 4 CD compilation, contains rare authentic recordings from the period 1939-1955, remastered from original LP, 78 rpm and live tape recordings, from the original Mitsakis' archives, kindly offered by his family. Enjoy some of the most authentic greek music treasures.Giorgos Mitsakis was a Greek rebetiko songwriter and composer. He was born in Istanbul in 1921. He moved to Volos, Thessaly, in 1935 and started his career as a bouzouki player in 1937. Mitsakis career, both as a songwriter and a composer, took off after the Second World War. He was known for his versatility, covering the entire spectrum of rebetiko music from original to the "post" version made famous by Manolis Chiotis. In a long career that lasted more than 40 years worked closely with the singer Anna Chrisafi with which they formed a very popular artistic couple, but also with many other top musical personalities as Giorgos Zampetas (bouzouki organist and music/lyric composer), Vasilis Tsitsanis (bouzouki organist and music/lyric composer), Manolis Chiotis (bouzouki organist and music/lyric composer) and others. He died in Athens at November 17th, 1993.
